How to Use your TV as a Computer Monitor

Setting up your television as a computer monitor is quite easy and helps users in making their display screen much more bigger in comparison to a standard computer monitor. By making your television as a display for your computer, you can use it as an external monitor which could help you in various scenarios like meetings, presentations, watching movies, gaming and much more.

But to convert your television into a monitor screen, users will have to access any of the video cables which could act as a pairing agent for both the devices. There are three different types of video cables which could help you in pairing your computer with the television. You can refer to all three available options in the list below and choose the required cable type which suits your computer and TV configurations.

VGA: It is considered the oldest means of connecting display devices. VGA cable uses trapezoidal connection which has fifteen pins placed in three different rows and is generally blue in color.

Although this cable can be used for pairing display devices, still if you have an available option of DVI or HDMI then using them would be more reliable as they can establish much robust connection with HD display output which is impossible to achieve in VGA.

DVI: It is a bit more reliable video cable for connection display devices with your computer as it has a digital connection capability with rectangle shaped mount having three rows with eight pins in each.

HDMI: these types of cable are the most modern video cables especially capable of transferring ultra HD picture quality with 60 fps. It is a USB shaped port which is potent to transmit both audio and video in ultra-sharp clarity.

After making sure of all the ports available on your computer system, look for all the ports present on your television to undermine the suitable video cable type for pairing both the devices together. Likely the connection port on your TV would be either at the back of your TV or the side.

Now choose the suitable video cable type (HDMI, DVI or VGA) and insert one end of the cable into the port of your commuter and insert the other end of the cable into the slot on your television. The same procedure is implied for connecting a laptop to a TV for generating laptop display on television.

After connecting all the cables properly, navigate your TV and switch it to the required input. It is quite easy to select input type on TV and can be done by using your remote. Most modern television remotes have a button named "Source" or "Input," which can be used to switch between different inputs. By going through the simple method mentioned above, users can efficiently utilize their TV screen as a computer display and enjoy a much bigger screen.
